The Wirehaired Slovakian Pointer is a dog with moderate strength and is a working type breed. They were developed in the aftermath of World War II and is a product of crossing German Wirehaired Pointers, Weimaraners, and the Cesky Fousek.

They grow up to 61 to 67 cm for males and 56 to 66 cm for females and weigh up to 30 kg. This breed has excellent stamina and versatility. They have a grey-brown and pewter-silver coat, an intelligent, alert expression and a rough or broken coat, with harsh, wiry hair and whiskers.

Wirehaired Slovakian Pointers were developed to track, point, and retrieve in any kind of terrain. They can hunt for a wide range of prey, from small animals to larger ones.
