The service provided by Petsy has been amazing. My puppy got parvo and even with full vaccination needed 24/7care for a week until she was well enough to come back home. Once she was back home I made a claim with two days and got correspondence from the team a day after. I expected the process to take up to two weeks as it was a large claim but within five days the claim had been processed and two days later the funds were in my account. All I had to do to make my claim was provide the details of the vet and invoices if the care was complete and they would do all the work getting information from the vet. They also checked in with me a few times during this process to let me know how the claim was going and asked me how my puppy was going. I have been with Petsy for three months and they have been so much more approachable than my previous insurer. Their policy is the same price of my previous policy but covers two dogs while my previous policy only covered the one. I wish I had been with Petsy earlier as my other cavoodle needed to have dental surgery on some adult teeth and my current policy would have covered this when my old insurer did not. They also provide a Pre-existing assessment for all pets that helps to outline what vet costs will or won’t be deductible based on their prior vet history. They are also open to updating information when some existing vet notes change, such as a dog no longer eating poop! My amazing experience with Petsy has made me speak highly of them to everyone who has heard about my poor puppy getting sick and I recommend them to anyone who has a pet.

My chosen policy was easy to set up and claims are super quick and simple to lodge. My latest pet insurance claim was processed in less than 24 hours and staff are always super friendly and helpful. Sharon sent me a follow up message informing me of the outcome of my claim and asking how my pet was doing which I really appreciated. 🙂
Emily, July 2024
We lodged a claim for our puppy who, unbeknownst to us, swallowed 3 rocks and required surgery to removed them. Petsy were brilliant in their communication and timely in their response to our claim. Very happy with their service. The follow up call afterwards to check on Luna was much appreciated.

Pet Insurance is a form of insurance available to pet owners to help cover their puppy for unexpected injuries and illnesses, by reimbursing a portion of the veterinary costs to treat their pet.
Pet insurance acts as a financial safety net, helping cover unexpected veterinary costs if your puppy needs treatment. Some medical vet expenses can run into the tens of thousands, and having a pet insurance plan can significantly reduce the financial burden and stress if the unexpected happens.
Costs for a puppy insurance policy can range between $30-$300 a month on average, depending on your puppy’s age, breed, location, gender and coverage options selected.
Opting for a higher level of coverage, by choosing higher benefit percentage, higher annual limit or lower excess will result in a higher monthly premium.
Lower coverage options, such as a lower benefit percentage, lower annual limit, or higher excess will result in a lower monthly premium.
Starting your pet insurance when your puppy is young and healthy can help to maximise your coverage in the long term as it can minimise the chances of your kitten having any pre-existing conditions when you start your policy. The minimum entry age for pets for you to start a new policy with Petsy is 6 weeks.
With Petsy Pet Insurance, the range of protection for your pet stays the same no matter which benefit percentage, annual limit, or annual excess you pick.
You also have two additional customisable options to make your policy right for your pet:
Petsy Pet Insurance covers almost every type of injury, illness or condition unless it is specifically listed as not covered. This is why it’s important to know what’s not covered by pet insurance.
When reading the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) for Petsy Pet Insurance, the Summary of Benefits section refers to what’s covered, and the Summary of Exclusions section details what’s not covered under the policy.

Your pet insurance policy might come in handy if, for example, your pet accidentally breaks a bone, or gets hurt by a car, or accidentally swallows something they shouldn’t have.
Having a pet insurance policy in place can help you to cover a portion of these unexpected costs, making it easier for you to access veterinary treatments for your pet without money being the sole deciding factor.
Petsy Pet Insurance helps cover the cost of unexpected vet bills when your puppy faces an injury or illness. Once any exclusion periods are over and as long as it isn’t a pre-existing condition, you can be reimbursed for 80% or 90% of eligible vet costs—making it easier to get the care your puppy needs.

Why pet insurance matters:
Having a policy means you’re covered for a portion of these costs, so you can focus on getting the care your puppy needs without financial stress being the deciding factor.
Puppies are curious, playful, and known for being a little mischievous during their early years, which can mean more unexpected trips to the vet. Puppy insurance can help cover the costs of unexpetec injuries, illnesses, or emergencies, giving you peace of mind that you can afford the care your puppy needs without the financial stress.
With pet insurance, you’ll be reimbursed for a portion of eligible vet bills (usually 80% or 90%), so you’re prepared for the unexpected—like a broken bone, swallowing something they shouldn’t, or developing a health condition. Plus, Petsy Pet Insurance offers optional extras for pets younger than 3 years old which helps to cover things like dental illness and disease, which can be helpful as your puppy grows.
Choosing puppy insurance early can help your puppy get covered before any health issues arise, giving your furry family member the best chance in starting their life and maximising your coverage.
When picking the right insurance for your puppy, here are some key things to think about:
What’s Covered: Look for a policy that protects your puppy against common injuries, illnesses, and emergencies. Some plans also offer optional extras like coverage for dental illness and disease, which can be helpful for puppies as they grow up.
Customisation: Choose a policy that lets you adjust things like how much of the vet bill is reimbursed (80% or 90%), your annual limit, and excess. This flexibility can help you find a balance between coverage and cost.
Pre-Existing Conditions: Pet insurance usually doesn’t cover health issues your kitten had before your policy starts. A provider like Petsy Pet Insurance offers a complimentary pre-existing condition assessment upfront, so you know what’s covered and what’s not covered.
Ease of Claims: Make sure the claim process is simple. With Petsy, even your vet can submit claims for you, and approved reimbursements go directly to your bank account.
Transparency: Choose a provider that’s clear about what’s included and excluded, so there are less surprises at claim time.
Ultimately, the best insurance helps you focus on your puppy’s health without the financial burden of unexpected vet bills. Start with a provider that offers flexibility, transparency, and great support.
Puppies are at a stage in life where their health and wellbeing can be unpredictable. From early illnesses to accidents caused by their playful curiosity, unexpected vet visits can quickly add up. Pet insurance provides a financial safety net, so you can confidently care for your puppy if something goes wrong.
Beyond accidents and illnesses, insurance helps you prepare for the unexpected without dipping into savings or delaying treatment. It’s a smart way to protect both your budget and your puppy’s future, giving them the best chance of treatment and care.
The best puppy insurance is one that fits your needs and budget, provides extensive coverage for common injuries and illnesses in unexpected situations.
A good provider should be transparent, and clearly outlines what’s covered and excluded, and helps to support you and your pet if things don’t go to plan. It should also offer customisation, allowing you to adjust factors like reimbursement percentage, annual limits, and optional extras such as dental illness or behavioural issues. Finally, it should offer an easy and efficient claims process, ideally with support from your vet, which ensures that getting reimbursed is simple and stress-free, so you can focus on what matters most – caring for your pet.
As your puppy grows, their playful and curious personality will shine, but their needs will also change over time. Keeping an eye on their health and wellbeing will help them grow into a happy, healthy dog.
By staying proactive, you’ll help set your puppy up for a long and happy life.
Petsy Pet Insurance offers dental coverage as part of our Optional Extra Benefits, but you need to apply for Optional Extra Benefits when your pet is under the age of three. This coverage includes treatment for dental illnesses and diseases such as gingivitis, abscesses, and periodontal disease. However, it does not cover routine or elective dental procedures, such as teeth cleaning.
Eligibility: Dental coverage is available for pets younger than 3 years old at the time of applying for Optional Extra Benefits.
Extensive Coverage: There are no sub-limits on treatment costs or vet expenses related to dental illnesses when selected as part of Optional Extra Benefits.
Part of a Bundle: Dental coverage is included in our Optional Extra Benefits, which also includes Specialised Therapies and Behavioural Conditions.
Pre-existing Conditions: Coverage does not apply to pre-existing conditions. Pets over three years of age are more likely to have pre-existing conditions relating to dental issues, which is why this benefit is only available for pets before they reach three years of age, at the time of applying for Optional Extra Benefits.

We’ll let you know if we need any extra information along the way. It’s all part of making the claims process as easy as possible for you and your cat.
Owning a puppy comes with planned costs such as food, bedding, and vaccinations, but unexpected vet bills can quickly add up if your puppy gets sick or injured. Over a pet’s lifetime, these costs can range from minimal to thousands of dollars, depending on their health and if the unexpected occurs.
Puppy insurance helps cover unexpected vet bills, so you can focus on giving your puppy the care they need without worrying about the cost. Puppies are naturally curious and can be prone to injuries or illnesses. Pet insurance offers a smart way to protect both your pet and your budget.
Starting a policy while your puppy is young can help to minimise pre-existing conditions which helps to maximise your coverage over time. Plus, at Petsy, we reward early starters with a special annual limit bonus if you insure your puppy before their first birthday.
Puppy insurance isn’t just about saving money—it’s about helping your puppy receive the best care and treatment throughout their life as they grow.
