Loved by pet owners Australia wide.
I researched most of the pet insurance companies in Australia before I brought my pup home. Apart from the great comprehensive coverage Petsy offers, when talking to the customer service team, in my opinion, I feel they treat me as a friend and not just a customer. My money is well invested with Petsy and I have total confidence that my pup will be looked after should I need to make a claim ! 🙂
Craig, March 2023
I hunted around for Pet Insurance, when I adopted a 5year old retired breeding dog. I read reviews on here for various companies and was swayed by the reviews of Petsy. My experience has lived up to the high rating. The online quoting system is easy to navigate. I love that they offer a "pre-existing assessment" in the cooling off period - no waiting until you need to claim to find what the small print says. As a result I dropped an option off my cover and received a refund of it for the first month (deducted from second month). Truly individual customer service with very supportive and knowledgeable people. Quick with replies to queries. Very happy to recommend.
Liz, NSW, April 2023
Petsy were patient and thorough as I worked out my new puppy’s insurance. They answered all my questions and the online process was seamless. Very happy with no sub limits as well. Highly recommended.

Pet insurance that protects the one you love coming home to.
We all want to have the peace of mind knowing that our furry bundle of joy is able to receive required veterinary treatment if things don’t go to plan. With Petsy Puppy Protection Plus, you can choose an annual limit up to $30,000 to help cover eligible vet costs if your puppy runs into an unexpected mishap resulting in an injury or illness. No sub-limits or hidden costs.
What is pet insurance?
Pet insurance may help to reimburse you for eligible vet costs if your puppy unexpectantly gets injured as a result of an accident or if they suffer an illness. Having pet insurance can reduce the financial impact that can come with high veterinary costs. Receive 80% or 90% back on eligible vet costs based on your level of cover and after your annual excess.
Why consider pet insurance for puppies?
It's no secret that puppies love exploring the world around them and testing their limits. If your puppy accidentally breaks a bone, or unexpectedly find themselves in a pickle whilst scouting their new surroundings, having pet insurance can help to cover some of the cost for critical veterinary treatment they need without money being the deciding factor.

What’s covered and what’s not?
A Petsy Pet Insurance policy is designed to provide cover for a portion (80% or 90%) of the cost of necessary treatment provided to your pet by, or under the supervision of, a vet to relieve or cure an illness or injury. This may include, but is not limited to, hospitalisation, surgery, x-rays, medication, diagnostic tests, nursing and other care and procedures.
There are exclusion periods applicable to different conditions and there are some conditions/illnesses that are not included as standard, but you have an option of including them in your cover. View Optional Extra Benefits.
To help you better understand the coverage, we’ve created the following table to show the types of conditions/illnesses covered where they are not a pre-existing condition, don’t occur during an applicable exclusion period and subject to determining if there are any other exclusions applicable.

Is it worth insuring a puppy?
No matter how good a pet parent you may be, puppies can sometimes injure themselves or suffer from illness.
If you’re unsure whether pet insurance is worth it, you may consider how you might deal with unexpected vet costs for the treatment of your puppy. Vet costs can vary significantly depending on the extent of an injury or illness, the required treatment, as well as where you live, however these costs can often run into thousands of dollars - Yikes!
Not everyone may be in a position to cover these unanticipated vet costs on their own so you may want to consider whether you need pet insurance in your own circumstances.
Pet insurance doesn’t cover everything, and there are limits, conditions and exclusions that apply. However, knowing that you have cover for the unexpected can help to provide peace of mind.
How old does a puppy have to be for pet insurance?
When purchasing a new Petsy Puppy Protection Plus policy:
- The minimum age for entry is 6 weeks old
- The maximum age for entry is 364 days

Does pet insurance cover desexing?
Elective procedures, including desexing or additional vet costs, such as after-hours treatment and house calls when a vet doesn’t consider there was an emergency, are not covered.
This policy does however cover additional vet costs for required treatment of complex cryptorchid (undescended testicles) if it is not a pre-existing condition. We will reduce the vet costs by the amount the vet would have charged for neutering before applying the benefit percentage.
Does pet insurance cover puppy vaccinations?
It’s important to note that Petsy Pet Insurance is designed to provide cover for the vet costs of treatment that is required to relieve or cure an unexpected illness or injury.
This means that preventative, routine items & treatments, such as general check-ups and vaccinations, things you would expect to do in order to keep your pet healthy, are not covered.
When does cover start and end?
Cover starts at a minute to midnight on the day that you select to start your policy and will continue until the end of your period of insurance unless you decide to cancel your policy.
Before the end of your period of insurance you will be provided a notice to advise intention to offer a renewal policy.
New PDS, supplementary PDS and/or policy documents may also be applicable to your renewal policy.
