All about the
Russian Black Terrier.

The Black Russ Terrier, a legacy of the Cold War, was born by scientists of the Soviet Army trying to get the working dog right. The Black Russian was superbly suited to the bleak Russian winters to patrol the frontier next to the troops. The scientists were not seeking to create a new race; they looked for a dog that suited their military needs.

Black Russian Terrier can range from 36.28 to 63.5 kg from a solid, well built giant race (although 63.5kg is a bit above average). Males will be between 68.59 and 76.2 cm in height; between 66.04 and 73.66 cm in height. Russian Black Terrier should have a reasonably short, smooth skull with visible eyebrows and round cheekboards in proportion to its body. The muzzle must be high and sturdy and seem to extend parallel to the crown, even though the length is a little shorter.

An excellent Black Russian Terrier is calm but has an excellent sense of defending. He may distinguish between circumstances where protection is required and situations where security is not necessary. That's not how he comes, though. These magnificent black beauties are brilliant and trustworthy guard dogs that are not real terrorists. The Black Russian Terrier is a relatively young, unusual dog and is a working dog who protects a home and company, plays with family children and excels in the competition for agility and obedience.
