Kerry Blue Terrier is originated from the Country of Kerry in Ireland in the 1700s. The name ''Kerry'' was derived from its native land, and ''Blue'' came from the colour of their coat. They are known as the Irish Blue Terrier and as the national Terrier of Ireland.

Kerry Blue Terrier had a long but proportional head and small dark beady eyes, which describe wearing a ''keen terrier''. The size of males stand 46 to 50 centimetres tall, while females stand 44 to 48 centimetres, and both were 15 to 18 kilograms in weight. They are known to be an active and athletic but independent worker.

Kerry Blue Terrier has been around for more than a hundred years. Their past work includes hunting and herding because of their intelligence and adaptability to the environment.
