Frequently asked questions about the Cesky.

They have a soft, fine, and silky coat, which tends to shed a small amount since they generally do not shed. But they need to be brushed weekly. Regular trimming and professional grooming are also required.

It doesn't take so much effort to groom them. Their coat may be either trimmed with clippers or by stripping (a process by which the coat is thinned and shortened with a sharp, comb-like tool called a stripping knife) a mix of both.

Trim their nails once or twice a month if your dog doesn't wear them down naturally to prevent painful tears and other problems. Their ears should be checked weekly for redness or a bad odour, indicating an infection. Your careful weekly exam will help you spot potential health problems early.

Make grooming a pleasant experience for them, complete with encouragement and treats, and you'll be paving the way for simple vet assessments and other handling when they are older.

While they might be more laid-back and calm than other Terrier breeds, they are still packed with lots of energy! They definitely need plenty amount of exercise. Fetching a ball makes them happy as well as going for long walks. Design their workout routine well to satisfy their energy levels.

Schedule health checkups with your veterinarian every six months to ensure that they are safe and happy throughout their life. At these visits, the doctor will do a physical inspection, take your dog's temperature, and track his heartbeat, among other things. Especially more that they are prone to different health complications such as Hip Dysplasia, patella luxation, and cardiac problems.

Routine dog care allows you to track your dog's growth and development and address any issues with your veterinarian.

Cesky Terriers are very adaptable, loves people, especially children. They make a pleasant and cheerful companion with a kind disposition. Known to be loyal to their owner, but a lack of socialization during puppyhood can make them more reserved toward or even fearful of strangers. So, it is important to socialize them at an early age!

Cesky Terriers are very sensitive and responds well to commands. When doing training with them, consider positive approaches and a consistent manner. They tend to be stubborn at times, but that's only because they have a short span of attention. So you have to keep your training short and interesting.

Also, they do very well with positive reinforcement strategies, and rewards motivate them the most.

Naturally friendly and affectionate dogs, that's how Cesky Terriers could be best described. They are also sociable to domestic pets as long as they are properly introduced. They are sometimes reserved but polite around strangers, so let them get used to socializing more.
