Petsy Pet Insurance has a 6 month exclusion period applicable to Specified Conditions.

Lumps means the protuberance or localised area of swelling or unusual growth that can occur anywhere on the body including tumours, warts, cysts, growths and abscesses.

Lumps are not considered a Specified Condition if Your Pet was under one (1) year old on the First Date of Cover or when Your cover increased.

The waiver form allows you to apply to reduce the 6-month exclusion period for specified conditions and optional Dental Illness Cover (if your pet is less than 3 years old). A vet must examine your pet and confirm there are no signs of these conditions at the time of the exam.

To apply:

  • Print the waiver form and take it to your vet.
  • Ask your vet to examine your pet and complete Part 2 of the form.
  • Sign the form along with your vet.
  • Submit it to us within 14 days of  the visit.

No, you can choose to apply for just one condition, multiple conditions, or all specified conditions—it’s up to you.

If we don’t receive the form within 14 days of your vet visit, it becomes invalid, and you’ll need to visit your vet again for a new assessment.

Yes, the vet visit is at your own expense. Since routine check-ups aren’t covered, consider bringing the form to a scheduled visit to avoid extra cost.

Once we receive your completed form, we’ll review your vet’s notes and may contact them directly if we need more details. Processing usually takes 5-10 business days, though it may take longer if we need more details from your vet. If approved, we’ll send you an updated Certificate of Insurance with the adjusted exclusion periods.

Yes, your pet remains covered for eligible injuries and illnesses that are not subject to the 6-month exclusion period. The waiver only applies to specified conditions, and all other coverage continues as usual.

We’ll confirm receipt of your form and email you the outcome. If approved, you will receive an updated Certificate of Insurance with the new exclusion periods.

If your vet notes signs or symptoms of a specified condition, the exclusion period stays in place. Your pet remains covered for other eligible conditions after their exclusion periods end.

Yes, you can apply anytime after your policy starts, but the form must be submitted within 14 days of your vet visit. Since the waiver reduces the 6-month exclusion period, it’s best to complete it within the first 6 months of your policy—after this time, the exclusion period will have already passed.

  • Patella luxation
  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)

Optional Extra Benefits

During the application process You will be provided with the option to include Optional Extra Benefits that cover certain conditions and Treatments which are not otherwise covered under the Policy.

The Optional Extra Benefits are:

Alternative Therapies, Behavioural Problems, and Dental Illness.

Examples of Alternative Therapies: Acupuncture, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy.

Examples of Behavioural Problems: Excessive licking, fur pulling, pacing and destructive chewing.

Examples of Dental Illnesses: Dental diseases, gingivitis, periodontal disease.
