What is a Product Disclosure Statement?
In order to be insured in Australia, you will need an agreement between you (the policy holder) and the insurance company. This agreement comes in the form of A Product Dislocure Statement, also known as a PDS. The PDS will include the terms, conditions and obligations of an Insurance Company and the policy holder. This is the legally binding agreement between you and your insurance company. All insurance policies include terms and conditions that define the methods in which the policy will operate. These Terms and Conditions specify what is included and what is not, what the insurance company promises to do and what the policyholder promises to do.
Australian law requires all insurers to include all the terms and conditions of the insurance product in this document, known as the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
You Should always read and understand a Product Disclosure statement.
If you are having trouble understanding the Product Disclosure Statment, Policy Terms and Conditions or Financial Services Guide, please contact us.
Information provided in a PDS will not take into account your individual needs or financial situation. You should always consider whether a policy offers cover that is right for you before making a decision.
