All about the
Russian Toy.

The English Toy Terrier originated in Russia in the 18th century, and the Russian Toy Terrier's existence dates back to that period. A preserved specimen of a miniature black and tan terrier from 1716-1725 is on display at the Zoological Museum in St. Petersburg as proof of this. ''Dog of the sleek haired terrier breed called Lisetta belongs personally to Peter the Great,'' reads the inscription on the specimen, which stands about 14 inches at the withers.

A Russian Toy Terrier's height ranges from 22 to 27cm for males and females, with males and females weighing up to 3 kg. It has a square look and should have long legs for an attractive appearance. The elbows should be well over half the height of the withers, and the front legs should be level, long, and lean. The chest should be broad but not excessively so. The back should be solid and smooth, with a gentle incline from the withers to the tail, carried high and shaped like a sickle.

Full of courage but charming, the Russe Toy is a race too often referred to as a large dog in a little body.' He may seem willing to take the planet, regardless of the odds. Be ready to defend himself so that his larger dogs can not fall into a brawl with the authority of him.

Frequently asked questions about the Russian Toy.

Both coat types of the Russian Toy have a minimum drop, but you can see less with the shorter hairs of the smooth coat. This is a natural hair growth cycle operation. The number and extent of hair loss depend mainly on your condition and type of breed.

During the regular days, the long fur dogs can be quickly pinched and taken care of. Only take a bath and use a shampoo formulated for dogs, or you are likely to remove their hair from your natural oils. They are small to moderate, but any hair can be handled in the house.

For obvious reasons, the Russian Toy's long-hair variation requires more cleaning than the smooth-coated variant. The long coat is 1-3 inches long for the body fur. The ears are wrapped in dark, long hair that forms a rib, and on the back of his limbs are distinct plumes. Two or three days a week should clean the long hair variety to keep the fringes free of dirt. Monthly baths are generally sufficient to maintain the shampoo's safe conditioner.

The Russian Toy, smooth-coated, is short, close-legged and sparkling without an undercoat. It is advised to keep the smooth coating clean of dead hair and flaky skin on a regular weekly scrub with a gentle brush along with occasional baths. Even the lustre of the suit is a constant shameless wipe-down.

The Russian Toy is regarded as moderately strong. They need daily workouts, but a regular yard or long run usually is enough because of their limited size. They love spending time with their people and enjoy running and playing before they fall into a long snuggle in the lap. Since small dogs have more vulnerable necks and tracheas than big dogs, it is advisable to tie a leash to a belt instead of a collar while walking your Russian Toy. You should also not leave a belt or leash in your house for your Russian. A leash or belt will get stuck on stuff in the house several times and kill your baby.

The Russian Toy is an overall safe breed; its main health issue is its teeth, like many toy breeds. Most puppy teeth do not lose all the caddy teeth and require surgical replacement by nine months of age of the remaining caddy teeth.

The development of tooth tartare, a periodontal disorder, can start by one year of age. Regular dental treatment such as brushing teeth may eliminate plaque and avoid dental surgery or replacement of teeth. If you own these dogs, you must know about health problems that can concern your cat.

Your veterinarian must complete all behavioural changes or physical appearance.

The Russian Toy Terrier is a beautiful little dog and even though it is short, it doesn't really know how small it is. Their relatives and children in the family are courageous, trustworthy and highly defensive. However, the Russky Toy is like many smaller dogs, likely to acquire Small Dog Syndrome because you have enough authority.

The Russkiy Toy may be a faithful and devoted friend with a good teaching and socialization and even as a family animal. The Russian Toy can be a suitable option, in view of its limited dimensions, for families of children at least 6 years old who are taught how to treat a pet gently. Really little kids can lose it or walk on on unintentionally. Supervise children and dogs always to ensure that they are mutually friendly.

The Russian Toy is an intelligent race that makes it relatively easy to train. However, the Russky Toy is like many smaller dogs, likely to acquire Small Dog Syndrome because you have enough authority. Training tricks is an excellent way to spend time with your Toy Terrier from Russia. You should show your dog a basic trick, such as shaking the paws, quite easily. You need a bit more intensive preparation, for example to put away your toys or to catch your slippers.

The Russkie Toy works well with and particularly when educated with children with socialization. However, he is a very little dog and it means being overtreated or mistreated, which can lead to severe accidents and it is safest not for little children in their houses, and if any people come along, they can be monitored. It is well together with socializing with other animals because with other puppies, although it is significantly bigger than it, may be overly audacious.
