Frequently asked questions about the Kuvasz.

Kuvaszok have a thick double coat that sheds heavily, especially in the spring and autumn, so you'll want to increase your brushing routine to once a day when their shedding picks up.

It is recommended to brush them at least once a week to prevent them from matting and removing shed hair.

Grooming Kuvasz regularly is important, though not overly time-consuming.

They will need a weekly brush to prevent matting and remove debris. For standard grooming purposes, the use of a grooming rake or a pin-brush with rounded pins is recommended. Using a coarse-toothed comb to groom the hair in addition to the occasional light trim.

Bathe only when absolutely necessary since bathing destroys the coat's waterproofing.

The Kuvasz needs vigorous daily exercise because they are naturally athletic and fit. A daily physical activity that for at least two hours will make them happy. They enjoy playing with familiar faces and stroll in a park.

Your vet's annual health checks are recommended to ensure your Kuvasz is healthy and happy throughout its different life stages. In these annual visits, your vet will complete a physical examination, take your dog's temperature, check his heartbeat and overall health. Kuvasz does not have any known hypoallergenic properties.

Those with known health conditions may need to be seen more frequently, or depending on the vet's recommendation, to ensure that the vet stays on top of any changes in its overall health.

Kuvasz is gentle dogs, but new owners might need a little time until they get used to their behaviours. They can be a good companion provided that they are trained well and socialized at an early age. If they are raised around with children, he can be integrated well with them.

Kuvasz is an intelligent and determined dog. They are extremely devoted to their family. However, training them needs a little patience and understanding, especially those of new owners, because they sometimes tend to do things independently. They do not respond well to harsh or repetitive training techniques.

Use positive reinforcement and a rewards-based approach to motive them more.

Kuvasz tends to be dominant or aggressive toward unfamiliar dogs. This is maybe because of their physical features, which others find intimidating. If trained properly, they can be great friends towards other housepets. Teach them how to properly behave around new friends.
