Fox Terriers require more food than most expect. They should be fed 1.5 to 2 cups of high-quality dog food daily, divided into two meals. Clean, safe water should be made available at all times.
If you're somebody who hates dog fur everywhere or suffers from allergies, then Wire Fox Terriers is for you. It's just not as common as their smooth-coated counterparts. This is because their coat is more like human hair than usual dog hair or fur. And as such, it doesn't fall out at the same rate as most other dogs.
Although they need clipping and trimming every few months to maintain their rough hypoallergenic coat.
Wire Fox Terrier does require a bit of time in grooming. They should be brushed and combed several times a week to keep the coat clean and tangle-free. Frequent brushing with a natural bristle brush is needed to maintain the coat healthy. Occasional clipping of the coat may be required but will soften the texture of the coat; hand stripping is necessary to keep the suitable surface but is too difficult for most pet owners.
Wire Fox Terriers need lots of exercises. They have plenty of energy inside and require the time to wear it off. They enjoy outdoor activities and playing with other children. Their agility is amazing that they like fly ball games and other intensive physical activities.
Wire Fox Terrier is a hardy dog that doesn?t suffer from many health problems, and any issues they do have tend to be as individuals and non-breed specific. However, they still need annual health checks with your vet to ensure your that they are healthy and happy throughout it's different life stages.
In these annual visits, your vet will complete a physical examination, take your dog?s temperature, check his heartbeat and overall health. Routine checkups also provide the chance to track your dog?s growth and development and forms a key part of preventative care.
The Wire Fox Terrier personality is bold, brave, and friendly. They make ideal family companions and get along fit with kids thanks to their cheerful and happy-go-lucky energy. They are bright and react well to positive training techniques. They are good to a family who wants to add their pet to lots of active play.
Wire Fox terrier is intelligent but can be a bit challenging sometimes like most terriers.
Because they are smart, consider including obedience tasks as part of the exercise. It?s also a great idea to combine playtime with training. Use positive reinforcement to motivate them more.
Wire Fox Terrier can learn to go along with other pets, but males can be aggressive to other males. Fox Terriers can be protective of their meals and toys, which can cause problems; that's why they need to be socialised from a younger age, especially with cats and other household pets. Socialisation ensures that your Fox Terrier puppy grows up to be a well-rounded dog.
